Cyprus is an island divided between two nations Greeks in the South and Turkish in the North. Even its capital Nicosia has a border where you can actually cross from one country to another by foot on Ledra Street. Cyprus has a very complex history being under Ottoman Empire and then under the British Empire, to only achieve it’s independence in 1960. However, the North part remains untill present still under Turkish occupation. Besides, all its intrigued history, has left beautiful cultural places to visit and discover.
In the North part we were surprised to discover the city Kyrenia, with its fantastic views from the castle and beautiful harbor.
In the South part, there are the greatest beaches with white sands and turquoise waters, that simply attract all the visitors with its relaxing vibe. Protaras, Fig tree bay is one of the most lovely place where you can enjoy a cup of coffee with a really nice sea view.
Also, Protaras has many qualities for a pleasant holiday, from beautiful beaches by the gorgeous coast, tasty restaurants with both local and European food to great watersport activities.
Heading a little west from Protaras there is Aiya Napa town, also a touristic spot, which is impressive with its nightlife, hotels and cafes crowded with people. It is indeed, a stunning place for beach lovers, the famous Nissi Beach, with its unique gorgeous coasts and the crystal waters.
With exotic fresh pineapple cocktails, tasty food and serene beaches, you can experience here a vivid tropical lifestyle.
But Cyprus is not only about amazing beaches, it has lots more to offer. To enjoy its historical sight, you can discover Kakopetria town with its medieval quarters and stone houses
And there is also the most pretty and lovely town Lefkara, where needlecraft art is widely practiced.
This amazing embroidery, made in the heart of Cyprus, in Troodos Mountains, served as an inspiration even for Leonardo da Vinci, and it is now included in UNESCO Heritage list.
These graceful “Lefkarita” tablecloths are handmade and can take even years to be created, it is a tremendous and astonishing work
Back to modern times, Limassol and Larnaca are great cities, continuously growing and developing, with contemporary buildings, amazing cafes and restaurants, and nice sea walk roads to enjoy fresh sea breeze and phenomenal sunsets
